Many changes occurred on campus over the summer. The school broke ground for the C-building expansion and the Level One Game Zone got new gaming systems. Along with the PlayStation 3s, Wii, and XBOB 360s that already dominated the main space of the game room there is now a Playstation4 and a WiiU. These upgrades were requested by the students based on the surveys taken in the game room last year. Level One has also received many new games. One of the students who spends a lot of time in the game room, Mr. Andy Yang, stated that, “The Updates are awesome! I especially like the bulletin board telling about upcoming game room events.” While the updates are being well received there are some who have heard complaints. One employee, Burley Mullins, states that, “While the students like the updates they wish they could come more often. We really get a lot of people asking why we aren’t open on weekends.”
Through this semester, Level One Game Zone and the Greenlight Activities Board plan to join forces with one another to host events. According to Mr. Allen Clarke, the Coordinator of Student Involvement and the Student Center, he says “[the game room] is really looking forward to collaborating with the Greenlight Activities Board this semester. Our first big event will be Casino Night on September 25th.”
Other gaming competitions are going on throughout the semester and the first tournament of the season is Mortal Kombat X on Friday October 2nd from 4pm-8pm. A sign-up sheet is located in the game room. Their hours of operation are Monday-Friday (11am-9:45pm) so go check them out on the first floor of the Student Center.
